I was on my way home from a difficult day at work and sat at a stop light crying, I looked over and this little old man with a cowboy hat was singing country. That alone brought a smile to my face but when he looked at me and saw my tears he pretended to lasso and pull me in. Cute old men who know exactly what a girls dream man would do GMH.

I am battling cancer. I was transferred to an out-of-state hospital for a liver resection. When I woke, I found my fiance beside me, 17 hours from home. I asked him why he had come, he said “The day we get married I want to be able to look you in the eye and have you know that when I say ‘in sickness and in health,’ I mean it.”

Today my friend’s dad gave us $100 to go buy two remote control cars for some kids he knew. The kids come from such a poor family that all they had asked for for Christmas was toilet bowl cleaner so they would have a clean toilet. When we asked him why he wanted to do this he said he wanted to see them smile. My friend’s dad GMH.

I was in class one day when my boyfriend, who had been deployed for two years, came walking into the classroom. I had no idea he was back in the States. I’ve never cried harder in my life then I did when I saw him walk in. As I was hugging him, he got down on one knee and proposed to me. We’re getting married in the fall.

Today, I was in the parking lot and passed an extremely dirty car. The car had a sticker on the window that said “My brother fights for our freedom.” Above it, written in the dirt, said “God bless him” with an arrow pointing toward the sticker. Random thankfulness GMH.

Why LoveGivesMeHope? As GivesMeHope grew, we noticed that the “True Love” category page was receiving as many visitors per day as most of the other categories combined. But we were only posting an average of one love story per day. So instead of having GivesMeHope be taken over by love stories, we decided to create a separate site for those who can’t get enough!

A few weeks ago, my friend Lee went through my iPod and wrote a few thousand reminders on my Calendar. The reminder reads ”I love stevo day” and it shows up on my iPod everyday at 11:55pm, and will continue so for the next few years. She doesn’t know that I am going through some rough times, and her inspirational messages truly do GMH.

Today I was visiting my grandmother in the nursing home when I saw an elderly couple walking hand in hand. I called a nurse to ask about them thinking they were just two very confused people. The nurse told me that the woman does have severe demensia but that the man is her husband.
He admitted himself so they would not be separated. He GMH

Over the summer, a teacher at my school went into a coma and her husband had to pull the plug, leaving him to care for their newborn twins. This year, our school’s football team has dedicated every game to her memory and family, and her initials are on every team helmet. My team’s love GMH.

My brother has cerebral palsy, so growing up I spent a lot of time at appointments with him. One visit a woman ran out into the waiting room hysterical and grabbed the receptionists phone and dialed a number. She screamed “he walked, they said he’d never walk!”

5 years ago, a friend from OK and I were talking about how we hardly ever get snow in TX. He said that he wished he could make it snow for me. Two years later, he died suddenly. By the time I found out, I had already missed the funeral. That same day, it snowed. Then it snowed again on my birthday. In April. Knowing he’s watching over me GMH.

Two months into my exchange in Chile, I accidentally ended up in a really bad part of town at night. I couldn’t speak Spanish very well, and asked two women with children how to get where I wanted to go. They abandoned their plans, took the bus with me (even paid too!) , and made sure I got home safely. The kindness of strangers GMH.

I recently found out that we couldn’t afford for me to stay at college. I was devastated about moving home and leaving my friends. Before I had even made plans to transfer back home, two of my new best friends withdrew $900 from their joint bank account and paid off my balance at the Bursar’s office, allowing me to return next semester. As a volunteer I was paired up with a man with a severe intellectual disability to hang out with. Our first time hanging out he said, “I can’t believe this is really happening”. Our simple walk around town was the first time somebody other than family had hung out with him in years. We are now very close friends.

Yesterday while I was working, a father with his daughter came in with two bags of toys. He told me they had just come from her 6th birthday party, and I assumed they had a bunch of returns. I work at an animal shelter. On Christmas Eve, just before closing, a rough, old cowboy pulled up to the shelter in a battered truck. He had been at the lake gathering firewood and had found a litter of puppies in a metal trash barrel. He tucked them all into a bunch of straw and drove 2 hours to bring them to the shelter. His goodwill GMH.

Almost daily on my way home from work I would pass the same homeless man, and sometimes give him money when I had cash on me. One day he was suddenly gone. A week went by, then a couple months, then one day I bumped into him. He was dressed quite well, and handed me $100.00 and said “thanks, I finally got a job.” GMH

When I was in grade 7, all my supposed friends blew off my birthday party when they said they would come. Only one person showed up.
