I just recently got custody of my baby cousin (7) and I wanted her to meet my boyfriend so I asked him to come over.
She walked right up to him, gave him a ring pop, and said
“Treat my new mommy nicely, she really loves you and I need a daddy.”

When my grandma died on my 15th birthday, my world was shattered. One day it was really snowy out and I ran outside in the school court yard and started crying. This random guy I didn’t even know just sits by me and pulls me into his arms and let me cry. Kindness of strangers GMH.
Tuesday early in the morning at my school’s rival high school, a boy shot himself in the bathroom and he died in the ambulance. The next day nearly everyone in my classes came in wearing purple, his favorite color.

Today, someone came up to me at lunch and asked “Why do you have such low self-esteem? You’re one of the prettiest girls I’ve ever seen!” I think I forgot to breathe for a moment. Their innocent comment to someone who has been self-harming for 3 years GMH
It was my nineteenth birthday.
I don’t have any family. I had just moved to a new apartment, and hadn’t made any friends yet. No one knew it was my birthday. When I got home from class, I found a birthday cake, flowers, and a card on my step.

There is a boy at my school who is gay and struggling with acceptance. He posted a very depressing status about not being accepted. A boy who didn’t even know him wrote a very long comment about how he is perfect for being himself. Young people who accept and support one another GMH.
My parents are divorcing, and my little sister is moving out with my mother.
I cried for hours, and so did she.
Then, she silently asked, “Am I going to die?”
I asked her if she knew what dying meant, and she simply said, “It means I’m going to have to live without you.”

Today, I logged onto six billion secrets and saw a video that showed the best of October. And I saw “The person you are going to marry is walking the Earth at this very second. That thought alone should give you hope to continue each and every day.” I cried. That saved me. It really did. Knowing there’s hope out there GMH.
The other day, I went prom dress shopping. The sales lady told me that I was too fat to consider going to prom. My best friend, Sophie later told me that she believes in me and loves me for who I am. She doesn’t know, but I was going to self harm that night. She saved me. People like Soph, GMH.
A couple of days ago during the floods in QLD news came out that a 13 yr old boy had died in the floods. He died after he was swept away by the flood water… but before he died he did one thing he saved his brother’s life by making the rescuers take his brother first. Jordan Rice you GMH
Last night my sister came home and went up to her bedroom. When she opened the door she saw her best friend since kindergarten sitting on her bed. Her best friend lives way across Canada and flew in just to see her before her birthday. Friendships that can overcome distance GMH.
Today, my school had a moment of silence, and raised our flag only half way due to the school shooting in Arizona.
I live in the northeast side of the United States - hundreds of miles away.

I did a presentation yesterday on a book we read in class. As part of it, I asked, “Who’s someone who you look up to?” And more than half the class said “You.” Last year, I was depressed and anorexic because I was bullied at my old school. I almost cried because their acceptance GMH.
I was discussing adoptions with my 1st grade students, as a new girl was obviously adopted.
When a boy asked what adoption meant, the girl said
“It means you grew in your mommy’s heart instead of her stomach!”

This summer, my four year old nephew was killed in an accident.
We were worried his cousins wouldn’t remember him because they were so young.
About a month later, my niece told her mom, “You can’t see God ‘cause he’s up in heaven taking care of Sean.”

6 years ago, a boy in my school drowned in an icy pond trying to save his much older and bigger friend who also passed away.
A couple weeks later we named our school park after our hero, and his memory lives on.
Every time I go to that park and see his name it GMH.
This Christmas my 7 year old sister made me a homemade gifts.
She took her gift over to me. I opened it and in it was a heart with pictures she had found of me taped to it and she had written on it: You are perfect just the way you are.
I began to cry.

Today i passed by an ambulance not paying much attention to it, Three days later i found out what had happened, a father had been crossing the street with his daughter when a drunk driver hit them, the father pushed his daughter out of the way and took the car head on. Today I was at my aunt’s house telling her about how I couldn’t afford my books for the next semester of college.
About ten minutes later, my 5 year old cousin came in with a wagon with 8 piggy banks full of change they had been saving for him.

A young, married couple were expecting their first child.
Their doctor told them to start preparing a funeral because their baby looked like as though it would be still born. Instead they ignored the doctor and prayed to God and soon my father was born perfectly healthy. My grandparent’s faith in God and in their unborn son GMH.
I work at a pizza place and we are doing a donation event for the Children’s Hospital. Today, an 8 year old little girl gave me a $5 bill and gave her $4 back because the donation is just $1. She gave it back to me and said “No I want to help and give it all. ”

My little 8 year old sister has leukemia. Today I visited her in hospital and she said to me
“Ellie, I know I’m going to die. But I know that I’m going to be coming back as a kitten. So after I’m gone and when a kitten comes to your door. It will be me. I will always love you. Even when I’ll be a cat”.

My 20-year-old sister broke her arm badly and had to have an operation. My sister is a pianist, so she got really down about the fact she wouldn’t be able to play.
I just walked past our music room and heard very careful, but very lovely piano music.

On Christmas Day, while in Disney World, I watched a stereotypical teenage girl, with dark make-up and clothing, walk hand in hand with her two brothers down the main street. She had the biggest smile on her face, and she was twirling her little brothers around. Girls who beat the stereotypes GMH.
It has been one year since my mom died unexpectedly. Yesterday was our second Christmas without her. The last gift my siblings and I received was from my sister. In August, she had arranged for all of my mom’s clothes to made into a quilt for each of us. It is the best present I have ever received. My sister GMH.
They said that he’d die within minutes, he is now 16. They said he’d never be able to drive, he’s getting his license. They said he’d never live a normal life, he’s doing all the things any normal teen can do, and he holds a special place in my heart. Trenton, you GMH. I love you, kid.
